38th TMW Receives Outstanding Unit Award

THE AIR FORCE OUTSTANDING UNIT AWARD (FIRST OAK LEAF CLUSTER)
AWARDED TO
38TH TACTICAL MISSILE WING

The 38th Tactical Missile Wing distinguished itself by exceptionally meritorious service from 1 April 1959 to 30 January 1961. During this period, the 38th Tactical Missile Wing greatly enhanced the day and night all—weather combat capability of United States Air Forces in Europe and of the Seventeenth Air Force by increasing its mission capability along with a sharp decrease in response time. Through outstanding initiative, professional ability and devotion to duty, personnel of the unit continuously strove to improve the wing in the highly technical missile and guidance field and, in so doing, contributed directly to the mission of the United States Air Forces in Europe. The superior manner in which all personnel of the 38th Tactical Missile Wing performed their duties reflect great credit upon themselves and the United States Air Force.
